One year after using iPhone 6 plus

So it has been a year since I got my iPhone 6 plus. I have been using Apple products since 2008 when I got my iPod touch 2g and ever since the time I started getting into the experience I started to love it and one of the main things which stopped me from Apple products prior to that was the price point. This time somehow I managed to convince myself to save and get an Apple product and well!! I was least disappointed.

You see mobile apps are not just about having an app to do this and that. The main thing here is the user experience. An app must be user friendly and must understand how the user interacts to become successful. In my experience with other mobile platforms I often found too many apps which were buggy and half baked and by the time I could complete the task the app would crash and all my work would go in vain!

There is something nice about the apps in the iOS platform. Due to the stringent quality check by Apple most of the time the apps we see are very much user friendly and appeal to the users through their robust build and reliability. I guess that these days people have started giving importance to mobile apps and are using it more and more and hence it is important to maintain that appeal.

Coming back to my experience about having an iPhone 6 plus, I must say one of the main reasons which I got this was the larger screen. I mean I loved the iPad and always longed for a bigger sized iPhone which would bridge the gap and thank goodness finally Apple decided to release a bigger screen phone. The phone by itself is no feather but initially anyone would take a bit of getting used to. One gripe which I used to face and still face is that when I am using the phone lying down it outweighs your hand and hence the phone feels heavy and we often need to change hands. But then again let's not forget the golden rule: If you need to win something you need to lose something!

I love my phone, it has never caused major issues such as phone crashing and not booting again or heating way too much upon extended usage etc. Any issues were minor and marginal and could be accepted. It does not slow down after prolonged usage due to temp or junk files unlike another platform which I know of!

The screen of the phone is a major plus point due to 1080p resolution which makes it a pleasure to watch movies or play games or apps. I have to admit that more screen real estate does make typing easy for a person with large fingers. I disagree that a phone needs to improvise on every iteration they realise. It is important that they preserve the greatness of the previous iteration while adjusting to the current industry standards. I mean I do not see a reason to include 2k resolution on a phone when human eye cannot distinguish much above 720p.

Some of the apps which are found on the store are eye watering and pure masterpieces but keep in mind for any platform free apps are bound to drain more battery life and can slow down the phone. Things which are free are not always the best. So if you like something then purchase the premium version which include great optimizations to the code and can help preserve battery life and will not slow down the phone. Just my 2 cents!

To conclude I love Apple products and even if they are over priced they excel in quality and ask anyone they will immediately answer it is always an achievement to own an Apple! I wish to draw reference to cars here, there is a difference between owning a Maruti/Hyundai/Tata/etc and owning a BMW/Mercedes/Porsche/Jaguar right! I am sure you understand what I mean! :)

Until my next article take care and be safe! Adios!

Apple has launched the new iPad 2 in India

So finally Apple has launched iPad 2 in India a couple of months after the US launch. Seems that it was pre-booked in all the stores and hence was sold out on the same day. Shops speculate that it might take 2 weeks to a month for stocks to be back.

Coming back to the launch, I really hope lots of iPads are sold in INDIA because only then Apple and Steve Jobs will realize the true potential of INDIA and start launching Apple products coinciding with the World market.

Another interesting article mentioned a store in Mumbai offering flowers to the buyers. Indeed a nice gesture!

Let us see how the iPad2 fares in India.

I will post my own iPad2 (which I got through a buddy in US a couple of weeks before the Indian launch) review shortly!

Come and catch the Apple iPad 2 video reviewed by Macworld!

Apple iPad 2 Video reviewed by MAC World

A very nice video review of the Apple iPad 2 recently launched abroad and er.. well should I say not yet dumped in India!

The iPad was a huge hit, vastly surpassing anyone’s expectations for it. (In my review last year, I set a ceiling for success at 10 million, meaning my most optimistic estimate was still five million iPads short.)

It’s hard to bet against Apple these days. The company is on a roll, not only in terms of sales but in terms of product design. Less than a year on from the original iPad, the iPad 2 is an improvement that doesn’t divert any of the iPad’s powerful momentum. It’s the original iPad, only more so—even smaller, even thinner, even faster than before.

If you’re one of those people who practices remarkable feats of self-discipline when it comes to buying first-generation hardware products, it’s time to celebrate: the second iPad is here, and you can finally slake your thirst. By waiting, you’ll end up with a faster, lighter product with the same great price and battery life—and with two video cameras and video-mirroring capabilities, to boot.

For Apple’s competitors in the tablet-device market, the iPad 2 is a bucket of water to the face. After more than a year of struggling to catch up to the original iPad, here’s a new model that addresses many of the iPad’s deficiencies, dramatically improves its speed, and doesn’t cede any ground on price, features, or battery life. The iPad 2 raises the bar Apple set a year ago—and it’s time for the rest of the industry to scramble again to catch up.

For everyone else, the iPad 2 is a triumph, an iPad that’s even more iPad than the original. And the original one was really good. The first iPad was a bolt from the blue, a device that defined an entire category, and a tough act to follow. The iPad 2 follows it with aplomb.

How long will Apple ignore India!

I really wonder why Apple is ignoring India when launching new products. I mean, how can they ignore a country with such a huge population! Well yeah, I understand that these are the questions running across so many people's minds.. The blunt truth as many people would already know here is that Apple considers India as a dumping ground for their products! Take the case of all their products which were launched in India like the Iphone 3g/3gs/ IPAD 1. They were all late by at least 6+ months. This just shows what Apple thinks about India! In simple words, Apple thinks that whatever they bring to India, no matter how late there will always be a 'few' rich people who will buy it just because they have money to shell out!

I have always wanted to buy a Tablet in the likes of IPAD but have been holding off due to such intolerable behavior exhibited by Apple towards India. Even though I have several sources to get the IPAD 2 I will buy it only after it gets launched in India!

The bottom line here is that only because there are people who are willing to buy stale products, Apple is still ignoring India and wants to dump before uploading new products!
